ABOUT THE BOOK

On our way home after her sophomore year, Abigail asked me if she could share something very important with me. As a mom, I was thinking of all kinds of thoughts. I said, “Yes, of course. Anything.” You see, my daughter and I were very close. I called her almost every day because being away from home was a hard adjustment for her and me, to be honest.

She told me, “Mom, I am gay.”

I said, “What are you talking about? I just came down last semester and told that young lady to leave you alone.” She explained that this is who she is now.

I did not handle this news very well. Being a Christian and raising her in the same beliefs I knew, this was not the path that God had planned for her life.
